The Progress association met at the Antlers with Mayor Berry presiding to discuss country improvement, a proposed produce market, corn for silage, road surveys, and canal service. J A Berry and J E Lempke planned Denver talks, and funding for bridges may come from county settlements.

Woman's Club to Start Carnegie Library Meetings

The Woman's Club will begin meetings at the Carnegie library next Wednesday January 13 with a program on the beginnings of literature and special music. The L and L department recently heard Mrs Long translate German Christmas customs and related pagan customs readings. A town meeting urged all residents to attend next Wednesday at noon to discuss oil supply and related matters.

New Years Eve Party Hosts and New County Officers

Booths Entertainers Mrs G M Booth of the Antlers hosted a New Years Eve dancing party with over fifty guests. Refreshments were served by Mesdames Belton and Goulley. New county officers were sworn in. J K Burnham named county treasurer with Winifred Patten as temporary deputy Myre Murphy as deputy and Fred Tallon as an elegant. No other changes were made.

The new county board of commissioners consisting of T. W. Spratt M D Hanwis and Cicero Avent met this week and organized by electing T. W. Spratt chairman. The morning's work centered on approving appointments and official bonds.

Farmers Union and County Union Meet Here Tuesday

The county union of the F B Co U A held a regular meeting in Progress association rooms last Tuesday afternoon. President F A Ewen led. Col May read the previous report. Resolutions urged legislative action on cooperative buying and selling and tax payment methods similar to Washington and Kansas. Local members discussed corn club plans, cement silo designs, and agricultural work with County Agent A H Tedman pledging support. A committee chaired by C R Spencer, Fred Case, and R Bonwell was named to organize the fair association. meeting adjourned until March.

Big Horn County Cleared of Debt Except Bonds

Big Horn County exits years of indebtedness with bonds outstanding after a special December session paid most bills and nearly 30 000 in judgment debt. Five thousand funded from the general fund, leaving a cushion for incoming officials and tax relief through reduced salaries and lower taxes. Road improvements were completed at conservative cost, and local officials praise the fiscally prudent achievement.
