Wyoming primary bill moves through legislature amid debate

In Cheyenne on February 18 the Wyoming senate backs the Kabel amendment to repeal the present primary and return to conventions with a possible 20 percent petition to trigger a primary. The bill advances from committee to a house vote amid expected further clashes and conference action as lawmakers push toward adjournment.

District Court Session Opens with Several Trials in 1921

The February term opened with Roscoe Mott versus The Big Horn Utilities Co resulting in $500 damages for injuries from a Ford truck hitting a plate glass window. State v Eden saw a guilty plea to petit larceny with a $100 fine and 60 days jail. State v Barnhill and Thompson involved burglary charges and parole negotiations. Barnhill offered to plead guilty but was placed on parole awaiting behavior. Weir v Weir granted divorce. Allen v Allen involved a temporary order for counsel fees. State v Jack Friend concluded with a guilty plea to manufacturing liquor and a $950 fine. Further investigation into related burglaries directed to proceed.

Four States Oil & Drilling Co Incorporation Filed in Wyoming

Articles of incorporation were filed in Wyoming by the Four States Oil & Drilling Co of Casper with capital stock of 50000 and shares of 1 each. Directors named for the first year are R T Hobson Charles D Bennett Jr and Charles E Wheeler.

Funeral of F W Ackerman

The funeral for Frank Waverly Ackerman who died last Friday was held at the Methodist church Sunday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Madwin Bowling. Interment followed at Mount View Cemetery with pallbearers G Ki Brigham C C Ellis W A Robb Fred Frisby B M Stout and George Holdcroft. He was born in Friendship Wisconsin July 7 1869 and married Louella Kimmons July 6 1885 surviving his widow three daughters and one son.

Obituary Notice for Edwin Hutchinson of Indianapolis

Edwin Hutchinson of Indianapolis and Ralph Ackerman of Gasper. Deceased came to Basin in 1906, was a carpenter by trade, and during his residence here was respected and loved by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. The sympathy of the community will be extended to the family in their bereavement.

Mrs Hana recovers well after Basin hospital appendectomy

Mrs Hana underwent an appendectomy at Basin hospital on Tuesday morning and is reported to be on a good recovery. A note adds that this will be welcome news to her many friends here. Mrs Scott Milla left yesterday for Bonneville to visit her children for a few days.

Basin Burlington Road Project Progress Report

A Chamber of Commerce meeting in Fraternity hall discusses the Basin-Burlington road. Harry L. Wise reports progress and a goal in sight. Contributions total 3 498 with 800 from Gould farmers and 300 from the chamber secretary, aiming for about 40 000 with matches from county state and federal funds to start this fall.

Basin set for up town Western Union office

A. A. Gargan of Denver representing Western Union met with Basin Chamber of Commerce leaders and recommended an up town office. The report notes Basin should gain a Western Union location within three months, with several promising sites under consideration. The Chamber’s activity is praised as driving this progress.

Big Meeting at Burlington Advances Basin Road

A delegation from Basin visited Otto and Burlington to rally support for a proposed road between Burlington and Basin. Otto subscribed $600, with Burlington hearings and canvasses planned to secure financing and county and state action. The project could advance under a pending federal bill, marking a key effort by local chambers and committees.

Basin high school defeated Powell high 18 to 15 on Basin floor with Extra and Beard scoring. Blakesley, Rule, Hanlon standout.
