Prohibition moves in Wyoming legislature and state visit

The Wyoming legislature considers statewide prohibition measures with Senate File 46 and House bills in play. A joint invitation to Colorado officials to visit Cheyenne on February six is accepted, and Governor and lawmakers prepare for the Colorado visit.

District Court Session Faces Busy Civil Docket

The February term of district court will convene next week with few criminal cases and no jury drawn yet. Calendared civil suits include Basin Shale Works v Natl Bank of Wortend and numerous money cases, while a new refinery and pipeline venture looms. Leases To Mid-West Oil Co Near Spence Wyoming

Leases totaling 1600 acres of oil land on the east side of the Big Horn near Spence have been taken by Mid-West Oil Co from J T Huet of Greybull and associates. Mr Hurst stated the company will begin operations with two rigs from Grass Creek field, supplying fuel contracts for Burlington and Northwestern. Friends of Mr Huret in Basin expect a fruitful harvest from these endeavors.

The Workend basketball team faces Loom Town this evening in Fracemully Bell. A small crowd is expected as the game is tipped to be a very good matchup with strong play anticipated from both sides.

Presbyterian Church Sees 38 Members Joined In Week

The Presbyterian Church reports 38 new members this week with more set to unite next Sabbath. A Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be observed and officers will be installed and ordained. Sabbath School begins promptly, inviting all to join, with children receiving religious and moral instruction in their classes. A cordial welcome awaits at services led by Pastor S. A. Gane.

Great Interest by Business Men Pledges Basin Boost

Large gathering of the Progress Association at Basin State Bank last Friday night heard plans to boost Basin prosperity. May Berry presided. 50 to 75 attendees. Speakers urged securing freight rates, a mixed car rate to Casper, and broader Basin promotion. Residents endorsed building road to Little Buffalo Basin and printed literature. committees tasked with fundraising.
