New Coal Field to Open Near Basin Wyoming
Wm Paul Jones of Greybull received a government permit to coal lands east of the Big Horn river south of Basin. Jones has Grey Bull partners and will finance mining and marketing. Forrest Martin of West Virginia will direct construction. A shaft is planned and mining expected before month’s end.

Lovell Raids Result in Heavy Fines and Jail Terms
Last Saturday evening in Lovell Judge Metz sentenced those arrested in prior raids. Fines total $3,500 with jail terms for all but one. Defendants included Chester Darling $300 and 30 days, Peter McDonald $350 and 40 days, Wm McDonald 30 days and $350, Minnie McDonald $200 and 30 days, and others with varied sums and suspensions. James Kelsey pled not guilty, visiting restrictions ordered, and a Cody sheriff and Park county official connected to moonshine cases. A Frannie doctor received 30 days and $350 for selling liquor as the court halted a popular orange-flavored prescription.

Tolman Pleads Guilty in Game Violation Case

Last Sunday night a large gathering of Presbyterian Baptist and Christian churches formed a Basin community Christian Endeavor Society.
