County hearing on Basin project set for Saturday

On Saturday December 14 citizens of the county are asked to meet in Basin to voice opinions as the board of irrigation investigates plans. Volunteers will be allowed to share views on the building that will best serve the county. Leate Sands and Henry Lutz of Scott Bluff Nebraska have leased local properties and Conrad Ergenach has leased the Paubey ranch, all expert beet growers optimistic about Basin becoming the beet country.

Sugar beet industry eyed by Great Western in Basin

Basin meeting of Great Western Sugar Company officers discussed expanding beet growing and possibly opening another sugar factory. W L Lawson said the company may invest to develop territory near Basin and Grey Bull valley with irrigation from the Big Horn canal to support beet production.

Chamber of Commerce Debates County Bridge and Roads

The Chamber of Commerce met in club rooms with President M. H. Smith presiding to discuss waiving county rights for bridge approaches to the Greybull at Balin and Greybull. A committee led by E J Sullivan T J Pexton and Thos M Hyde was appointed. W F Unterzuber urged joint Greybull Basin action for better roads. T J Jones outlined a proposed road drag tax bill expected to yield about $3000 yearly for the county and soon to be presented for discussion.

Court House planning discussed at county meeting

Work On Court House Alabama county commissioners held Tuesday night sessions to review plans for a new court house. Architects submitted bids while county officials and the county attorney advised evaluating the specifications before inviting further bids. The county seeks best value for money. A club meeting follows Wednesday at 8.00 pm to elect directors for the coming year.

Farmers Central Loan Association Formed in Weld County

An association named Farmers Central Loan Association organized Monday evening to work with the Farm Leap board under a congress bill. Members include President T. J. Jones and Vice President H. KR Armeling with secretary-treasurer Jas F. Ewert and directors O. B Irwin H. Armeling T. J. Jones H. B. Perkin and J. Lo Murphy. The board of appraisers lists H. K Armeling H. B. Spelling Bee and Royal Neighbors Election Report

The Epworth church held an old fashioned spelling bee with general admission ten cents. Ruth Rhodes won the top prize and George Long finished second. The Royal Neighbors elected officers with Mrs Ivy Brookman as Oracle and other posts filled. Basin Chapter of Commerce directors meet tomorrow at Basho State Bank rooms at 8 pm.
