Five year old Hortense Zaring injured by falling bridge timbers

Hortense Zaring, five, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Zaring, was seriously hurt when a pile of bridge timbers collapsed at the court house grounds. Lou Blakesley Jr and Misa Nina Kendall, both of Basin, wed early this week. The groom is son of Mr and Mrs Lou Blakesley and the bride was a high school hero last year. Pearl Devore and wife return to Basin from Spokane and plan Basin residence. Pearl may resume with Tilton Taxi Service. New school building completion appears unlikely by opening day. high school might start later than grades.

Coal strike settled after tentative agreement reached

Miners in six states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois resume work as operators and union leaders prepare to seek signups. The deal accepts the 1922 wage scale and renews the checkoff system, with a full union referendum to follow in about ten days.

Markham well at Manderson anticline shows promise for new production

Last Friday the Markham well near Manderson was shot with 160 quarts of nitroglycerin in front of about 150 observers from Basin Manderson Worland and Thermopolis. The blast produced debris and oil in every shale bed while testing indicated potential commercial production with plans to drill to Muddy and Grey Bull sands.

A B Martin sold a half interest in the Oil Exchange Pool room to H M Shieve this week. The partners plan to provide Basin citizens with up to date conveniences and service, leveraging Shieve's stake in Northern Realty Company for strong local business.

Fire destroys cars in Greybull garage blaze

Last Saturday afternoon an explosion from a backfire in the Public garage near Greybull caused near total ruin of the establishment. Firefighters arrived too late to prevent most damage as the blaze burned only minutes and ruined several cars by burning tires and upholstery.

Dr. Chester Harris and Burton Harris returned last Friday from a long auto and camping trip covering the coast, Glacier National Park, and Yellowstone. They say the journey was delightful and the outdoor life gave them evident tonic effect.

Missionary Stricken En Route to Baptist Convention

Dr Manley a missionary from India traveling to Paint Rock lakes to lecture was struck by an appendicitis attack on a train near Basin last Saturday. He was rushed to Basin Hospital where an emergency operation was performed and he is reported to be getting along well.
