Ten rigs head toward Basin as several operators announce bold development aims near town. A leading firm predicts a six month rush as tests begin and Judge Champion’s group plans substantial wells. Other outfits move into Manderson Bonanza field with casing en route and quiet preparations under way for further drilling activity.
Casper area crews work fast after steel is laid to finish canal work. A ditch obstruction found and tied to dangerous water levels at the Antelope siphon intake. Believed placed by boys swimming in the canal, with offenders to be prosecuted. Also noted are Ford sales by G W Black Co to E E More and others in Thermopolis and Greybull.
The Vierlings thank many friends for kind assistance and expressions of sympathy during the illness and after the death of their beloved child in Hyattville Wyoming.
R H Ahrens district clerk lists 28 jurors for the next term to convene September 2 at 2 PM in Basin. Trials on the docket expected to last two to three weeks. Also notes Old Timer Hee and others visiting from Kemmerer, and the death of 18 month old Robert Benjamin Vierling of Hyattville with funeral held Saturday in Hyattville cemetery.
Dad Payne celebrates his birthday today and will serve lemonade to friends on the court house square. Preparations are made for a good time and a short call from many townspeople is expected. Ladies Ald. The M. EB and Mrs. 8. W. Albone will meet on Thursday August 20 with all members urged to attend.

Judge Metz recused himself over stockholder ties, delaying a ruling as both sides race to discovery oil sands with rigs 150 feet apart.
Reverend Abone learned yesterday his lost suit case, missing for six weeks after a Cody to Frannie train ride, had been found in Cody round house. He wears a happy smile as several items he prized highly were inside.
Leave For Lander Max Thomas has resigned his position at the Pioneer Trust and Savings bank and has moved to Lander where he has secured a position. Mr and Mrs Thomas have hosts of friends here who will wish them success and hope soon to see them back in Basin again. Frank M. Hime has accepted the position of manager of the Berry Lumber Co s yard at Worland and left on Tuesday to commence his duties there. Frank is a buster, fully conversant with the lumber business and will make good in his new location.
This week Under Sheriff F. I. Rue was presented with a latest model 44 Smith & Wesson special revolver by EB BE Lonabaugh of Sheridan. The gift was praised as a fine gun. The northern train was nearly five hours late yesterday.
A condensed 1914 county expense report lists items for sheriff, clerk, treasurer and others totaling 4124.78. It notes primary and general election costs around 2500 combined, road expenses 6717.80 for 100 miles of new work, and 23 districts needing 68 judges and 46 clerks. Mentions bond for George Muller over canal headgate, and locals moving to Billings for engineering work opportunities.
