Rigs to Test Basin Oil Field Amid New Company Plans

Ten rigs head toward Basin as several operators announce bold development aims near town. A leading firm predicts a six month rush as tests begin and Judge Champion’s group plans substantial wells. Other outfits move into Manderson Bonanza field with casing en route and quiet preparations under way for further drilling activity.

Canal obstruction near Antelope siphon prompts warnings

Casper area crews work fast after steel is laid to finish canal work. A ditch obstruction found and tied to dangerous water levels at the Antelope siphon intake. Believed placed by boys swimming in the canal, with offenders to be prosecuted. Also noted are Ford sales by G W Black Co to E E More and others in Thermopolis and Greybull.

Jury Drawn for September Term of Court at Basin

R H Ahrens district clerk lists 28 jurors for the next term to convene September 2 at 2 PM in Basin. Trials on the docket expected to last two to three weeks. Also notes Old Timer Hee and others visiting from Kemmerer, and the death of 18 month old Robert Benjamin Vierling of Hyattville with funeral held Saturday in Hyattville cemetery.

Dad Payne celebrates his birthday today and will serve lemonade to friends on the court house square. Preparations are made for a good time and a short call from many townspeople is expected. Rushed work at Thermopolis follows injunction granted by Court Commissioner Lin Noble restraining Valentine and Worland from interfering with Mid West drilling on Grass Creek claims. Judge Metz recused himself over stockholder ties, delaying a ruling as both sides race to discovery oil sands with rigs 150 feet apart.

Suit Case Found for Reverend Abone on Cody Train Route

Reverend Abone learned yesterday his lost suit case, missing for six weeks after a Cody to Frannie train ride, had been found in Cody round house. He wears a happy smile as several items he prized highly were inside.

Resignations and new posts in Basin area

Leave For Lander Max Thomas has resigned his position at the Pioneer Trust and Savings bank and has moved to Lander where he has secured a position. Mr and Mrs Thomas have hosts of friends here who will wish them success and hope soon to see them back in Basin again. Frank M. Hime has accepted the position of manager of the Berry Lumber Co s yard at Worland and left on Tuesday to commence his duties there. Frank is a buster, fully conversant with the lumber business and will make good in his new location.
