Basin Band Concert Tonight in Band Stand

The Basin band plans a concert this evening at the band stand replacing Saturday night. The G bow band delays arrival to Saturday morning and will perform here, prompting the local band to yield its regular night. Citizens have generously supported the band, aiding purchase of instruments and music totaling over $1,700 since organization. Director E C Hoover leads practice three to four nights weekly as members invest in instruments priced from $45 to $85. The program for tonight begins at 8 o'clock with Manotte The Wingwer and features solos, waltzes, serenades, and quicksteps including Rippling Waters and La Seremata with local performers.

Big Horn Basin Tournament to Decide Baseball Champion

Four teams enter the Big Horn Basin tournament to crown the season champion. Games start at 3 pm with practice beforehand. crowds from Cody Gebo Crosby and Thermopolis expected. Special train from Thermopolis and autos from nearby towns. events include concerts by the Miners band and Basin band with entertainment from Acme Amusement. grounds are prepared for fast, rivalry-filled games and a bonus crowd from mining camps.

One Boy's Work Raymond Colley Garden Pioneer

Fourteen year old Raymond Colley of the Colley family built and tended a thriving garden near A and Seventh streets. He designed irrigation, planted and cared for potatoes corn cabbage tomatoes beans and other vegetables while peers played. His effort earned town admiration with many praising his hard work and enterprise.

Fruit for Fair Ambition Promotes Basin Apples

D A Null chairing Basin exhibit plan at the state fair suggests sending boxed fruit to visitors this year. Boxes would be wrapped, labeled with grower name and origin, and distributed by a Basin wide committee to showcase local fruit quality. John Davis buys four Ford cars from W Black and Co to move the compact for carrying the wall between Basin and Shell. The purchase displaces two teams previously used and the time trip was made Monday afternoon.

Motorist party visits Basin en route to Cody and Park

A Douglas Casper party escorted by Basin residents arrived Tuesday morning and left Wednesday afternoon for Cody. Mr Woodall of Chicago, Blue Book rep, rode with them offering driving tips. The group praised Cottonwood pass roads and predicted the best Wyoming state fair after a long visit with F H Simpson and Secretary Higby.

Postponed Hyattville banquet and pig storm outing

The good roads meeting and banquet in Hyattville last Saturday night was postponed to one week from tomorrow night in August. Dr Van Slyke will perform as advertised. A number from Basin, about a dozen cars, planned to attend.

A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Frank Hormel at Basin hospital Saturday morning mother and child reported doing timely It is the first child in the family and Frank is proud Clarence Gardner was in Greybull on Wednesday on business Joint Institute Mrs Mary S Hatfield Washakie county superintendent visited to plan a joint institute for two counties in Basin during Thanksgiving week The aim is to secure better talent and a program will be arranged with top instructors expected from the country at least 20 teachers from Washakie and 75 to 80 from Big Horn county expected

Wm Chaney Injured at Burlington Day Celebration

Wm Chaney, injured during Burlington day events, was rushed to the main hospital. Initial diagnosis suggested surgery for concussion of the brain, but in the last day or two his condition improved and doctors now hope he can recover without an operation.

Chautauqua at Greybull Opens Next Week

Greybull prepares for its first Sister Town Chautauqua August 12 to 16 with Cirillo's Concert Band and Italian singers. Organizers promise one of the west's best entertainments for the family, urging full attendance and a memorable five days of wholesome attractions.

Pathfinder tour cars provided for trip to national park

The Pathfinders tour from Chicago to the Black and Yellow trail will use two Cody Trading Company Studebakers, a 35 and a 25, carrying Mr. Holmes, Mr. Woods, an official photographer, an Associated Press reporter, and a Blue Dock representative. The route through northern Wyoming will see roads improved by forestry and regional efforts, with a banquet for tour members on August 12 attended by about two thousand Chicago business people in Buffalo.

Otto Maier Injured in Narrow Wagon Accident

Otto Maier suffered a double leg fracture after a runaway team pulled by his wife and Mrs. Smith caused him to fall. He attempted to catch the rig, was struck, and both women were thrown but unharmed. He is recovering at Worland.
