Progress Association Dinner Plans For Billings Visit

The Basin Progress Association held its regular Wednesday noon dinner at the Pioneer with H. Ridgely presiding. A Billings chamber excursion is planned for May 17, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a reception committee formed. Officials discuss seed donations from Senator Warren and a proposed fish hatchery site near Tensleep, plus concerns over diseased nursery stock and road improvements.

Road committee to secure eastern stretch near town

The road committee under Barnes was ordered to act and confer with the county commissioners at their next meeting to secure the road east of town. With no further business, the meeting adjourned to next Wednesday noon at the Pioneer restaurant.

Hyde Freed on Bond in Swope Murder Case in Missouri

In Kansas City on April 27 habeas corpus judges freed Dr. B Clark Hyde on bonds pending a new trial for the murder of Col Thomas H Swope. Hyde has been confined since his conviction for life, with Mrs Hyde present at the release. Also noted are related arrests and venue change efforts in the McNamara case and ongoing cross party disputes over Senate committee assignments.

Basin Lodge 35 O O F Celebrates 92nd Anniversary

Basin Lodge No 35 of the Odd Fellows marks the 92nd anniversary of the order in America with a program at Fraternity Hall. Assisting by the Rebekahs, members presented a farce The Order Of The Golden Goose. Elegant refreshments followed, with Worland attendees noted. The event coincided with the 62nd anniversary of FP founding in America.

Jury Acquits William Francke in Assault Charge

The jury in Worland County Court returned a not guilty verdict Friday afternoon in the case of William Francke charged with attempted assault on sevenyearold Rosena Meir. The defense cited his good character and the plaintiff Otto Meir admitted he owed Francke money. Witnesses from Worland testified to moral character, and the trial focused on credibility and the girl’s age.

Boy Harrowing Accident Tore Foot From Leg Near Germania

Twelve year old Ed Doerr was dragged by a runaway riding harrow for about a half mile through plowed ground and barbed wire. He arrived at Basin hospital by auto early Wednesday. doctors wired the foot bones and tied arteries in hopes of saving the foot.

Lady Minstrels Delight Crowd At Frattenity Hall Show

The Woman's Club produced a crowd pleasing Friday night minstrel at Frattenity Hall under warm applause. The home talent act featured original jokes and catchy songs, drawing praise for rehearsal detail and professional tone. Performers included Mesdames Harria Leberty Pearson Patten Carter Bailey Lewis and Miss Lucille Coons acted as pianist.

Local Players Impress Audiences In Notable Show

The show wowed both singers and audience with a high standard set by the ladies. The company, praised as the best ever, left readers hoping for their return. Yesterday Fred Voss drove from Burlington to Otto and back with Harry Westeon E Watkins Ross Yates and Dave Jones as character witnesses for the defense in the case. Their auto broke down en route and they missed the trial, returning to Cody last night.

Progressive party caucus endorses W S Collins for Basin mayor and names Markham and Jenkins for council. O T Gebhart chairs with Clyde W Atherly secretary. State Upheld By The Judge Victory In Motion To Quash

Judge Parmelee sustains the motion to quash in proceedings by Laban and Alexander to secure a new trial. Dees Acquitted After Hour Deliberation In Famous Case

The State v Ed Dees trial ended with a not guilty verdict after about an hour of jury deliberation. The case, tied to the March 25 1910 Burlington shooting of Bert Campbell, featured conflicting evidence from witnesses including M T Wells and thirteen year old Dewey Johnson.
