Wyoming On Wheels exhibition train to the east

H L Moore of Sheridan plans a traveling exhibit train to the east within two months. The train will carry dining cars two day coaches exhibit cars and a baggage car and will travel as far as New York with stops to collect and distribute literature and school materials. Wyoming communities may appoint representatives to join the train.

A New Surveyor Appointed G J Schenk

M Miller resigned as county surveyor and the board of county commissioners appointed G J Schenk to the position. Schenk is a capable engineer and will maintain road records well, valuing careful record keeping to save future costs. The article notes county surveyor and county superintendent have been undervalued, but are now seen as important offices.

Street Demonstration of Maxwell Car Excites Spectators

W. W. Murphy demonstrated the new Maxwell car on the street, driving it in a circle for several minutes without a driver. The display showed the car performing excellently, pleasing spectators and attracting attention. Murphy has had success showcasing these famous cars.

County approves bounties to kill coyotes and bobcats

County commissioners vote to pay bounties totaling 123 dollars for 108 coyotes and 14 bobcats, with funds distributed countywide. The bounty program is expanded to all predatory animals, expected to reduce local counts.

O F Howard of Casper was arrested on a warrant by Mary C Howard for threats against the life of the witness. He was bound over to the district court in 500, later released on leaving the county. Nurseryman Leonard Freshman, now in Worland, oversees work on the old Haxféum farms and visits Shell Creek. Wells in the Cle Tillard area see drilling paused, with plans for a larger rig. Grey Bull and Newood fields show activity and pipe line work proceeds. A rock party at Mrs Lion Blakesley’s featured games and refreshments after an Odd Fellows meeting.

Windmills of Holland Operetta Benefit at Basin Hall

The Windmills of Holland two act operetta will be presented in Basin for the Methodist church Friday April 30 1915. Local scenery by R. J. Extra and a six piece orchestra accompany a performance highlighting Dutch life and mills with roles including Mynheer Hertogenbosch his family and American Bob Yankee. Tickets $1.50 1.00 0.50 on sale at Wise’s April 24 with curtain at 8 30 and doors 8 p.m. Overture at 8 20.

M Hyde visited Hyattville and Willis Thooth's ranch noting 150 pure strain hens kept separate. The flock produced 2844 eggs over a period, with daily yields around 90. Booth’s care is credited for the good results.

Mountain Men Return After Illness Near Home

W A Robb and C O Bilis descended from their mountain home on Wednesday. J W Ahrens, accompanying them, fell ill and was assisted back to the residence. They arranged a wagon ride and then telephoned for a car. R H Ahrons met them and transported them to medical care. The party reported the illness not serious but sought closer medical aid.

Engineers and settlers visit Basin in early week

Engineer J. J. Marshall formerly of Basin, now on his farm above Gody, visited town. He is a top irrigation expert still consulting for major firms. D. A. Baughman and three children arrived from the east and plan a ranch dairy venture if Basin suits. Co W. Atherly, ex-county surveyor, now with Billings engineering, also in town. Atherly’s firm handles the Cody canal tunnel contract and other projects. Stockmen from Basin, Bonanza, Hyattville, and Manderson headed to Douglas for the week’s stock convention.

County Finances Show March Expenses and School Fund

Entertained At Cards By Mr And Mrs Bristow

Mr and Mrs F F Bristow entertained numerous friends at cards last Saturday night. A delicious lunch was served and the gathering, held weekly through winter, left the guests with a lingering regret as they dispersed. Attendees included Mesdames Gould Extra Zane Lakeskey and Messrs Wickwire Haw. Sheriff Wickwire and C B Haw left for Ranting with prisoners Dell Drake Wm Murphy Geo Cobb sentenced to four to seven years and one year respectively leaving the county jail empty for the first time in over a year.

County Officials Hire Auto Service Bid Awarded

At the county meeting ODMnedone contracted with Markham and Allen to provide auto hire services for county officials. Several bids were submitted, but the Markham and Allen proposal was deemed best for the county and the contract was not to be.

Woman's Club Meeting Showcases Local Notables At Library

A Woman's Club gathering at the library last Wednesday featured a lengthy business session and an engaging program. W C Snow explained recent legislative laws while questions about disputed points were discussed. Miss Winifred Patten sang and responded to an encore. Mrs Murphy gave an insightful talk on early experiences, and Kathleen O Ney performed songs including Elaine. Mrs Collins presented a well received paper on Early Days in the Big Horn Basin.

Will Po Home Canning Opens New Income Source

Frank Nicholson, from Harlington, plans a home canning outfit with a 400 cans per day capacity. He will first can asparagus, then beans, peas, corn, and other vegetables, and also cure meats. A 25 foot deep silo will store feed for six months, with twelve acres of corn planted to fill it. If successful, this venture could inspire others and boost local prices for home canned goods.

County receives state fish cans for local distribution

Sheridan county commissioners report from the state batchery at Story that 25 cans of fish are available for distribution to residents. The notice encourages all interested to take what they want, noting fishing supports tourism and can profit ranch or resort owners relying on streams favored by anglers.

The Lewis Shows Present Night of Varying Talent

The Lewis shows played here on Wednesday before a small attentive audience. The piano player impressed with skill and variety, earning much applause. The ventriloquist lady delighted the children, and the act was described as well worth the money. Mr L A Lewis traveled from Greybull to meet friends and handle business matters.

Manderson Resident Robert F Beall Dies at Home

Robert F Beall of Manderson died at his home Wednesday after a prolonged illness and a recent stroke. He leaves a wife and several children, including daughter Mrs Don Loyer of Basin, who stayed at his side throughout his illness. Funeral was held Thursday at Manderson.

Acme Delivers Fine Western Show With Squaw Man

A crowded Acme house enjoyed a six reel program headlined by Dustin Farnum in Squaw Man. Every scene was clear and deft, showcasing top performers. Tomorrow night will present the second installment of the Master Key, a highly anticipated story. The Big Horn canal now runs full length, supplying water to farmers.
