Stucco Plant Burns Down Overnight

A fire last evening destroyed the stucco plant owned by Peter Enders, set ablaze around nine o clock. Firefighters struggled to reach the distant hose, water kept on the Big Horn flouring mills nearby, no wind aided spread, plant a total loss with uncertain origin or plans to rebuild.

Grit Declares Itself Republican In Worland Publication

The Worland Grit reports the Democratic Party plans a separate paper in Worland and Weshakie county to present its views. The Grit adopts a strict Republican stance, opting to run a clean newsy paper while treating Democrats with courtesy and wishing them success.

Dinner and Supper For Playground Fund At Mountain View

Civic committee of the Women’s club announces a dinner and supper at the Mount View hotel to benefit the schoolhouse playgrounds on Wednesday April 19. The regular club meeting will be postponed and the Shakespeare program indefinitely postponed. A committee will visit residents Friday and Saturday to solicit donations and volunteer help, hoping for a liberal response.

Teachers Institute Arrangements Rapidly Near Completion

Washakie county schools superintendent Mrs. Mary Hatfield and Big Horn county superintendent Mrs. Donaldson coordinate a joint institute in Worland the first week of September with Greybull and Basin teachers. Also on stage in Basin tonight are Clara Kimball Young in Camille and Tae Janis in Was Ever Thu, plus Theda Bara in Destruction. Caspers Ambrose Wil ingwey and W. V. Al Valuations reports oil output remains out of reach for Villa, with valuations stating 00 percent completion or access, reflecting ongoing uncertainty in production prospects.

State Board Raises 1915 Mineral Valuations Across Outputs

After an all day session the state board of equalization announced 1915 valuations for coal oil copper and iron rose substantially from 1914. Oil up to 60 cents a barrel iron to 1.10 a ton copper to 45 a ton and Cambria coal to 70 cents a ton with other coal left for later. Oil values to be set by average monthly prices and data from Oklahoma Pennsylvania and Wyoming will be submitted next year.

Oil Prospects And New Settler Plans In Basin

Oil work north of town resumes after a delay as casing is set. A New Farmer from Colorado, F G Reed, plans to locate near Otto and raise bees shipping 125 stands of bees now with more later. He praises the Basin country and aims to become a heavy honey exporter next year. J F Weber of Laurel Montana, representing National Life Insurance, seeks a house to rent and will move his family soon after renting rooms.

Fraternity Hall Front Aesthetic Remodel Planned

Work began this week on the front of Fraternity hall. Sane will be remodeled into a suitable entrance for picture shows. The machine room will be moved forward and good entrances added on either side. When complete it will enhance the building’s appearance.

Departure of Basin depot agent Fetter shocks locals

Basin residents learned that H G Fetter, longtime depot agent, submitted resignation to headquarters. The post grew beyond one person’s capacity, with repeated requests for help denied. Fetter plans to move to a ranch near Moorcroft to retire from active duties, while the company seeks a replacement. Mrs A Galusha and her husband arrived from Casper to join at the brick plant.

Gould Irwin Wedding Among Basin Daughters

Amy Pearl Gould wed Don Louis Irwin of Kansas at the Gould ranch in Greybull valley. Rev Orrin Gould officiated. The bride, raised in Big Horn County, is highly regarded. The groom, new to the Basin, is praised locally. They will reside in a newly built home on the bride’s father’s ranch. The Acme theater is closed for repairs and upgrades including a new projecting machine and electric sign.

Thursday night featured a significant Woodmen initiation with nine candidates including Emeling Bet on Smith Hatten Robinson Borden ONeil Hart rant and Davidson. Basin camp grows with new names as Grey Bull camp members travel to attend and share fellowship over lunch of sandwiches doughnuts coffee ice cream and cigars.

Court Proceedings On Right Of Way Across Olney Land

District court this week heard A Flitner seek a right of way across T W Olney land for a ditch. Many witnesses testified for both sides. The court appointed C C Bilis and W A Robb as two appraisers to assess damages, with a third appraiser later added.
