Basin Woman's Club Meets With Notables In Attendance

The Basin Woman's club met Wednesday morning with Mrs. Shaw and others hosting. President was Mrs. Arnott and secretary Mrs. Snow. Thirty five members and two visitors attended. six new members were added. Programs included Queen Wilhelmina paper by Mrs. Barnes and current events by Mrs. Alston. vocal solo by Mrs. Harris and another solo by Mrs. Howman. The state federation will convene in Basin Oct 2-5 with a long list of officers, committees, and credentials, transportation, and program chairs named.

Birthday Party for Carl Pickett at Home

Last Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Pickett a party celebrated their son Carl’s 17th birthday with 26 guests. Music by John Rettinghouse and a midnight oyster supper followed games and dancing, with attendees Frank Bull of Tensleep and Miss Minnie Hlapman and Mr. and Mrs. J. Miromelious of Paint Rock.

Billings Business Men Plan Big Horn Basin Excursion

The Billings Journal reports a Chamber of Commerce led trip for about 60 leading business figures to Wyoming’s Big Horn Basin May 16 to 18. They will travel on a Burlington line from Fromberg to Scribner, wear key shaped lapel cards identifying Billings as the northwest distributing center, and meet with local merchants to boost trade relations.

Special Session Approves Water Bond and Electric Plant Funds

The town council met in special session with Mayor Collins and all councilmen present. Ordinances approving bonds for extending the water works system totaling 65000 dollars and for constructing and extending the electric light plant totaling 10000 dollars were passed. No further business was conducted.

William O. Kenyon, an assistant VA and attorney described as an official trust buster, has been elected senator from Iowa to fill the unexpired Dolliver term. Iowa's legislature has been in deadlock since January.

Demonstration of Challenge flour draws large Davis crowd

The Davis Enterprise store hosted a Saturday flour demonstration for Challenge flour. Doughnuts buns and cakes baked with the flour were served to visitors, with attendees calling it the best on the market and noting strong turnout.

Tex Bennett a popular bartender at the Capital Bar arrived home this week from Omaha and Kansas City where he enjoyed his trip. He says he is glad to be back in Basin. H. B. Ridgely went to Cody yesterday to help organize court in the new Park county.

Wrestler Hank Weber Challises Lightweights for Match

Douglas reports a letter from Hank Weber challenging any light weight wrestler to town. Weber will throw any light weight four times in an hour and sought a match here on the 12th, but time ran out to arrange it. Anyone bold enough to take him on can arrange a bout.

Progress Association Meeting Promotes Basin Band Plan

Regular Weekly Meeting at the Pioneer Restaurant, H S Ridgely presiding, discussed forming a town band as an advertising booster. Mayor Collins proposed inviting Billings businessmen touring the Big Horn Basin for a banquet and city tour. Agreement to support band formation and to record membership was adopted, with further farm tour notes and remarks from local officials and visitors.
