The Cham ber of Commerce held its regular meeting and approved a good roads day on April 24 with County Commissioners supplying materials. A plan to fund courthouse grounds landscaping and a future cleanup day with mayoral and council cooperation was discussed.
Congressman Mondell reports the Post Office Department cannot find a volunteer to serve as Bonanza postmaster. If no appointment is made, the office will be discontinued and the Bonanza to Tensleep mail route may end. Citizens are urged to act and write Mondell in Washington.
Judge M. B. Camplin of Sheridan visited Sunday and spoke at a Liberty Loan gathering in Lowell on Saturday. He reports a very successful meeting in the north end and, while in town, met many local residents. He is a Republican gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming primaries.
Mr Wunder from Lincoln Nebraska visits Greybull to promote a large sale. He reports modern selling methods and strong demand and expects to dispose of the entire stock in a short time.

O. W. McNay traveled to Urbana Ohio after the death of his aunt Miss Julia A Jennings aged ninety seven. She left a sizable estate and Mr McNay will serve as an executor of the will.
A group of defendants faced trial Monday in Greybull on gambling charges after a venue change from Justice Harding. Frank Elle and others were bound over to district court in $300 bonds. several business owners were discharged for lack of direct knowledge.
George Be Butts was apprehended for evading the draft and appeared before Justice J. R. Bonwell. In the absence of a U.S. commissioner, deputy U S marshal Peter Warramount filed the complaint. Butts was committed to Laramie county jail in default of bail to await U S court action in Cheyenne.
Judge George Harding of Grey Bull passed through yesterday en route to Denver where his wife will undergo an operation in one of the hospitals there.
Washington dispatch reports British, American and Belgian forces resisting a German offensive across a 120 mile front from Amiens to the Franco Belgian border. American reinforcements and engineers join the fight as casualties rise. Givenchy and Armentieres area actions intensify with disputed advances and multiple German wedges repelled.
L E Deck will sell his stock of goods and move with his family from Basin shortly. He has accepted a sales manager position with a large corporation running fifty stores at a salary he could not refuse. The Decks formed many friendships here, and while the town regrets their departure, they look forward to Mr Deck's career advancement.
In the week of April 22 a meeting for poultry fanciers will be held. A poultry specialist will address the gathering. Definite date to be announced later. For details contact the county agricultural agent.
The Red Cross dance at the hall last Saturday night drew a large crowd and raised a fine sum for the work. Asa Mercer’s pig caused a stir and sold at auction by Senator C A Randall for over $200 to support the Red Cross effort.
Senator C. A. Randall and Mrs Randall depart after visiting their daughter in town to return to Newman Grove Nebraska later this year for business interests here.
Dewey Starkey, once an advance man for a traveling show and arrested for complicity in a Greybull robbery, was released yesterday and departed for dismount where he will enlist in the army.
A letter from L. G. Van Slyke clarifies that a road supervisor is loyal to the government and Red Cross. He urges Americans to show support for the Red Cross in Hyattville and join the war effort, dismissing misinterpretations and personal feelings.
Gus Allen and wife of Tensleep sold their ranch on Tensleep to L. M. Sorenson of Lovell through W. W. Murphy. Sorenson plans to move to the ranch soon, and the Allens will reside on the neighboring ranch just above the one sold.
Beott Mills reports rapid progress at the Torchlight extension on the Pease property for the Basin-Wyoming Oil Co. Strong gas pressure and oil shows found in shallow sands. The 800 foot depth test aims to confirm deeper sand potential with a likely surprise for Basin district.
Pease announces the first of the month the new building will be ready for occupancy by the Pease Peterson Co. They will move in as soon as fixtures arrive from the factory and will open one of the west’s most complete department stores. Their stock will be among the finest west of Chicago.
Dr and Mrs L G Van Slyke of Hyattville furnished the music for a Red Cross dance last Saturday night. The couple deserve credit for their devotion to the worthy cause.
The local sheriff's office rounded up A Kozie and Myk Mikazor on a slackers charge. They claimed Chicago as their residence and admitted lacking registration cards.
County headquarters report steady Liberty Loan progress despite bad roads. North district near 210,000. Central up to April 10 shows 12,700 with more communities pending. Basin totals about 34,000. Lower Greybull 83,800 and Burlington 7,500. Otto district progressing amid heavy rain and mud. Hyattville teams report about 6,000 so far. no large corporate subscriptions yet but expected.
Last Saturday Basin and vicinity staged a large parade led by the Basin band with over a hundred automobiles, featuring school children Red Cross and county agent floats. A Rex theatre gathering heard Mayor Sullivan urge loyalty and warn against mob rule. Hayden M White of the Buffalo Voice spoke on wartime duty and Third Liberty Loan needs, as 600 attendees pledged support with a band and choir rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.
The Christian Science Society of Basin Wyoming invites the public to a lecture by Clarence W Chadwick C B at the church Friday April 19 1918 at 8 pm with doors opening at 7 pm Chadwick is a member of the Mother church board of lectures in Boston Mass

Milburn, longtime manager of the Mt. States Telephone exchange here, departed Sunday for Miles City to settle on a ranch near there. During his stay, he made many friends who wish him success in the new location.
