New Ten Cent Store Opens in Great Bend

New Ten Cent Store No 7 of Duckwall Bros opens in Great Bend near First National Bank offering articles for 21 cents or less. The store features a large line of notions and a fall stock, with Abilene headquarters and other locations in Clay Center Concordia Manhattan Junction City and Salina. Manager W F Ducknail invites the public to visit and get acquainted.

Millers Edge Emporia In Close Millers Baseball Run

The Millers won four to two at home over Emporia, with a soggy field and rain delaying later games. Saline tied the series after a 3 2 win. great Bend misplayed, while Palrehilda showed solid defense at short. Em Doria rose in form, briefly unseating Hutchinson, and a Saline victory closed the week before a trip to Galion for a three game set.

Perry Horn obituary details Civil War service and family

Perry E Horm of Poolpan county Pennsylvania born January 4, 1845 died in this city May 20. Civil War veteran of Company A Slat Pennsylvania volunteers served three years. After term he rejoined company later commissioned first lieutenant of Company D. He moved to Barton Country about thirty years ago, lived in Het Lemon then here. Survived by wife two daughters and two sons by former marriage. Funeral services held 2 o'clock at Home. Memorial Day observances noted with GAR parade remarks.
