Death of pioneer citizen Diffenbacher shocks city

The community mourns the death of prominent Barton County resident Mr Diffenbacher after a brief illness. He served as mayor in 1876 and held multiple legal and political roles, including county attorney and education board member. Survived by wife Harriet and four living children, funeral plans await arrival of several offspring. He was active in the Ancient Order of United Workmen and Democratic politics, born in Pennsylvania in 184Std, moved west in 1856, and lived in Great Bend since 1873.

Ay Aptodate Party and Mrs G Smith entertained about fifty guests at their elegant Odell Street residence, hosting a refined gathering with notable attendees and cordial festivities.

Date Themed Charade Party Delights Guests

A charades evening featured dates in ice cream, cake, cream puffs, and stuffed dates. Guests guessed the number of date seeds in a bottle. Mr. F. W. Russell won by guessing the exact count and received a box of stuffed dates. Hostess assisted by Miss Helen Counett, Miss Grace Moses, and Miss Florence Castle.

Firemen's Ball Draws Good Crowd In Moses Nall City

The St Patrick's event by the Firemen at Moses Nall drew a solid crowd with Springer orchestra from Salina delivering top tunes. Attendance was smaller than past dances but guests from Larned Hoisington Ellinwood enjoyed the evening and praised the entertainment.
