Chester Puterbaugh, a switchman, was killed early this morning in a yard accident here. He was found conscious but dying after being crushed between bumpers while switching cars. He leaves a wife and had recently moved from Hoisington, where he worked for Missouri Pacific. The death note mentions his mother’s family ties and a funeral arrangement to follow in Hutchinson.

East Broadway party honors Hasletts with card games

Cards were the main amusement and the event honored Mr and Mrs Thomas Haslett of New York visiting locally before returning home next week. Mrs Haslett and Mrs R A Charles tied for high score on a cut, while Mr Nick Smyth led the men. Refreshments were served, delicious and unique.

Grandmother White Dies After Long Illness in County
Grandmother White died Tuesday evening at her son J. J. White’s home aged about 77. She was mother to Geo, SW, PS, Ju and TH White and had been a long-time county resident. Funeral from the house Friday morning. Ed Tower and Earl Jorden bought Jobo Coss stock at Heizer and will start a mercantile business in that town. Town news includes entertainment at the opera house by Durno the magician and several local notices on farms, implements, and community clubs.
