Louie Wagner Dies from Spanish Flu in Barstow Area
Louie Wagner, the district's first victim of what was believed to be Spanish influenza, died at Santa Fe Hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday October 6. He leaves a widow and two young children who are also ill at home. The funeral took place at Union Church with Dr J F Price officiating and burial in Barstow cemetery. The Wagner family had long lived on their Barstow area homestead and Wagner worked in the Santa Fe water service department at Barstow.
