A large joyous crowd enjoyed good music and refreshments as homemade costumes impressed judges who awarded prizes to Mrs. J. W. Young, Mrs. Floyd Marvin, Reece Dillingham, Oscar Demmell, F. Warner, and Bert Gibbs.

Athenian program delights Romans and visitors
Miss Paxton visited San Bernardino to interview Mrs. Stanley, county superintendent. Miss Knight, the county attendance officer, toured Barstow districts gathering pupil enrollment data and noting unregistered school age children. October 28 the Athenians staged a strong program with piano solos by Nancy Gilham and Lucy Wilson, a vocal solo, a clever dialogue by George Leak and James Siemon, and readings by Mary Connor and Lela Duncan. The Athenian Glee Club provided strong backing and audiences left pleased, hoping for future success.
