Settlers of the Ivanpah Valley held a May 13 picnic to mark completion of their first reservoir with 4 000 barrels of water for domestic use. The Ivanpah Valley Improvement Co plans more reservoirs for irrigation and 6 000 acres have been claimed despite settlement starting less than 18 months ago. A mutual land and water company formed in six months. The reservoir and five miles of pipe deliver water from springs in the New York Mountains near Brant Station and Ivanpah in San Bernardino County.
