Overton Recovers Stolen Automobile

Jim Overton and Hays at the Daggett inspection station recovered a car stolen from a salesman in Oklahoma City on July 11. The driver C. A. Trotter and a Wichita wife could not prove ownership. Trotter was wanted for transporting female passengers. The sheriff in Oklahoma City did not know of the car. The pair claimed to have followed the salesman, taking the car while he stopped.

Hottest Day Yet At Yermo Station Reported

The thermometer at the State Agriculture Inspection Station in Yermo rose to 120 on Sunday. Station personnel said it was the highest reading yet and likely the hottest day since the station opened.

A telegram from Ben Gabhart at Yermo station said a fine boy arrived Sunday morning and mother and son were doing nicely. Mrs. Gabhart traveled to Sacramento to be with her mother as the child arrived. Ben runs the State Agricultural Inspection Station at Yermo.

Ring has just sold the Escondido shop and Lee notes Ring’s health remains poor due to a fractured hip requiring crutches. A prior report of amputated legs is denied.

Interesting 20-30 Club Programs At Newberry Springs

Last Tuesday night the 20-30 Club held Ladies Night at Newberry Springs with forty guests. President Carl Jordan relinquished control to Wiley Ownes as Stuart decor and green white arrangements set a summer tone. Music by Floyd Marvin Sischo sisters and others accompanied toasts for ladies bachelors men and newlyweds. LeRoy Phelps received a silver salt and pepper set. Jack Lindsley spoke on moving picture work and drew sketches. More buildings under construction at Amboy

The Morris brothers of Daggett have returned home from a short rest from their labors at Amboy. They are constructing a new building for J. M. Bender on the State highway. The Benders have been in business in Amboy for many years with hotel, store, garage and other interests. When the new state highway road was built it was not routed through the old town so the business houses are being moved and new ones erected upon the highway. Mr. Benjamin, another Amboy merchant, has been moved to the new highway for some time.
