Chicago Barstow Oil Outfit Burned Again
A fire destroyed the Chicago Barstow Oil derrick and machinery on Saturday afternoon around three o'clock. Driller Gaddie attempted to douse the flames with water but the blaze spread quickly. The engine and boiler survived and the plant, insured for 2000 dollars, will be rebuilt promptly.

Death of Mrs Spellman in Amboy Pioneer Merchant’s Wife
Mrs Marie Spellman wife of Maurice Spellman a pioneer desert merchant died at her Amboy home Friday July 11 from thermic fever. N F Platt of Barstow prepared the body Sunday for shipment to New Mexico her former home. She was a daughter of a former governor of New Mexico Territory.
