Barstow paper published every Friday by Wim J Evans as editor and manager with a yearly price of 2 dollars. It is entered as second class matter in July 1910 at Barstow post office under March 3 1879 act.
The defeat of the Needles school bond proposition reflects voter neglect and harms the city’s welfare. The article warns a bad omen for county road bonds as some residents oppose all bonds and doubt local fund management for desert development.
A Barstow reader argues against statewide style voting for supervisors in California's desert district. He asserts current charter provisions centralize power to a three to two board, harming representational fairness across districts and urging petitions to amend the charter.
A speaker criticizes the current charter as dangerous, arguing it creates a potential political machine. He notes historic district splits, hold-over supervisors, and unfinished courthouse, urging that voters in all districts should select their own representatives to share government burdens.
