Railroad power plant boilers have arrived for the new Santa Fe power house with complete equipment en route. The plant could be in operation in 30 days and will provide light heat and power for the roundhouse and the new Harry house and Santa Fe station.
Harvey House manager Carl Rummich says the new Barstow facility will open sometime in February with no fixed date. He notes there will be no banquet or public ceremony initially, possibly later after the recreation building and lighting system are complete.
Sharps Fellows will finish their contract within ten days on the big railroad cut east of Barstow. Afterward the double tracks must be laid and ballasted, a process that will take another month.

The Consolidated Pacific Cement Plaster Company operates a 75 by 240 foot Amboy plant with two 10 foot kettles, capacity 160 tons daily, valued at 250000. Production ranges 2500 to 8000 tons monthly, finished plaster sold at 7.50 per ton F. O. B. Amboy, land plaster at 4. The mine lies two miles away, with a 1000 acre deposit and open quarry. About 50 workers are employed, and output fuels California and nearby states via the Santa Fe railroad.
Salt Lake will run an educational agricultural train next week from Salt Lake to Las Vegas. Nine cars carry agricultural products lecturers and livestock. The trip passes Mohave River Valley and aims to finish in about three weeks with lectures and stereopticon views at each town.
Trustees of Waterman School district Barstow seek bids to repair the school building interior and exterior. Plans and specifications available at Dillingham's store. Bids to be opened there at 11 o clock am Saturday February 4 1911.
