Death by Self Inflicted Gunshot in Superior Valley
Ira Brim, a homesteader in Superior Valley, California, died by self inflicted gunshot wounds in his garage. Neighbors and deputy coroner Edward P. Doyle reported the death, with the body moved to White & Platt morgue. Brim, born July 23, 1861 in Utah, had lived in California eight years and in Superior Valley six years, with a September homestead entry proven up before Notary Even Evenson. The body awaits word from a Utah-based brother.

Covered Wagon Takes Two Weeks Pasadena to Barstow
L. D. Parks travels from Pasadena to Barstow with a bullock team and a covered wagon en route to Needles. He began a year and a half ago from Glendale Oregon near Grants Pass seeking a movie contract, then moved toward Needles to be near the Colorado River for feed and aims to make home movie projector pictures. The Cajon Pass route required about two weeks as the outfit moves 8 to 10 miles daily.

De Avila Dies After Lights Extinguished By Thieves
Luis De Avila died days after a suspected fainting spell following an incident where three masked men removed house fuses in Barstow. He was taken to a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing while recounting the event to an officer. No arrests reported. De Avila was a local Mexican community leader and San Bernardino association representative. He leaves a widow and six children, oldest twelve.
