Mining Development Work In the Kelso District
Earl Brooks of Los Angeles visited Barstow after weeks in the Kelso district overseeing mining claims in which he and others are financially interested. As treasurer of Providence Mining Co. the outlook is promising with assays of $32.20 in silver and $25.60 in gold and deeper work planned. A hoist has been installed, shaft 125 feet deep with 75 feet more to sink, and a 400 foot tunnel. The vein runs nine feet and ore will be treated by flotation. The Kelso district lies seven miles from the Salt Lake railroad and three other Providence properties are operating nearby. Indications point to a desert mining revival boosted by the Kelly mine’s influence.

Forms 1040 for incomes $5000 and under will be ready January 18 at the Collector of Internal Revenue office in the Federal Building Los Angeles and branch offices in Santa Barbara San Bernardino and San Diego.
