California highway federal aid totals and 1928 outlook

California holds 5.46 million dollars in unexpended federal aid funds with 18.28 million spent to date. For the last year ending June 30 1927 the state added 195.6 miles of improved federal aid highways bringing total to 1865 miles with 92.4 miles under construction and 4.5 approved. The road mix includes cement concrete and bituminous surfaces plus 4.9 miles of bridges. The western states trail eastern neighbors in mileage as Colorado leads with 755 miles. California ranks 32nd among 48 states.
