Government loses mineral claim in San Bernardino land
Roche and Receiver Mitchell of the local land office last week opined against the government’s mineral claim to nine sections in northeast San Bernardino county. They ruled the government failed to prove the lands were mineral, so the parcels revert to the Southern Pacific railroad under the Congressional grant. The lands lie in township 11, range 18 east and total 45760 acres. The decision stops short of declaring the land nonmineral, merely states the government did not prove its contention.
