Mason Malone has bought and relocated the Stumford residence to his home place for remodeling into a neat cottage. Mrs. Wm. M. Raftery plans to move their homestead house onto nearby lots to establish a new residence. The Women’s Improvement club hosted a large audience at the school house presenting The Sweet Family with strong readings and musical numbers. Cake and coffee concluded the successful evening.

Major-General Frederick Funston commander of the Southern Department U S A since February 1915 died suddenly at a San Antonio Texas hotel on February 19 a few minutes after dinner.

Barstow Visitors Planned for Orange Show Exhibits
Mrs. Riley and her daughter Mrs Higgins left yesterday to attend the Orange Show. A number of Barstow residents are visiting the county seat this week and expect to see the largest crowds of the week viewing proclaimed exhibits considered a wonderful display by attendees.
Narrow escape in barstow auto collision
J. Hague of Los Angeles avoided injury when a stripped Pierce Arrow forced his Ford at the horseshoe curve below Newberry. The impact tore off a wheel and bent the axle as the two cars were pushed into the roadway. Deputies from Las Vegas assisted and Barstow tow truck hauled away the damaged car. Hague resides at the local Y M C A.

Woolridge buys Rey Blue ranch and plans well
Mr Woolridge has purchased the Rey Blue ranch and sinks a well on his property. Mr J Taylor will plant much of his tract to alfalfa this spring and has a good well and a new pump delivering a strong water stream. He plans to build a reservoir to store water for alfalfa and already has fruit trees, mainly peaches and pears.
