Pioneer Woman Eugenia White Laid To Rest In Barstow
Eugenia B. White died December 28 at her daughter’s home in Barstow after years of illness and blindness. Funeral services were held in the Congregational Church with Rev. Chester Ferris officiating. she was buried beside her husband Dr. J. O. White, who died in 1919. Born October 16, 1849 in Nashville, Tennessee, she was a descendant of General Robinson and had three children Arthur W. White Los Angeles Eugene L. White and Marietta Platt Barstow. The Whites moved to California about 1888 and to Barstow in 1900 where Dr. White ran a drug store and practiced medicine.

John McDonald, engineer for Santa Fe with thirty years in Barstow, dies in Los Angeles. Funeral services by Barstow and San Bernardino Elks Saturday afternoon. He is survived by wife Aretta who died this year, five children Helen Norma Allen Jack and Frank, with Frank living in Needles. McDonald, a Canada native, had been ill for months and hospitalized.
