The westbound Los Angeles Limited on the Salt Lake line derailed at Crucero desert junction last Monday. The engine and several cars including the tank and mail cars left the track. Engineer Smith was slightly injured and the fireman reportedly scalded. Crews quickly built a shoo-fly around the wreck and used replacement coaches, arriving about six hours late.

Agricultural note from Missouri station outlines a cheap method to kill grain weevils and moths in stored grain. It explains how carbon bisulphide gas forms, gives temperature guidance, and prescribes application rates per bushel and per bin volume, stressing tight bins and adequate temperatures.
The text explains pouring a bisulphide liquid in shallow pans or over rags to fumigate grain inside bins. Use about one half to one pound per pan, direct the gas through a pipe, plug and unplug via a rod, keep bins closed 36 to 48 hours, and air before use. Do not light flames during fumigation. perform in daylight and consider cheaper commercial bisulphide.

Trespassers are warned not to shoot on Joe Zanini’s ranch and will be prosecuted. The notice names Joseph Zanini and identifies the property by ranch location with a threat of legal action.
