Randsburg escaped a major fire on July 27 at 2 a.m. when Dick Rochelle’s jewelry store and dwelling burned with water scarce. Mrs. Jones alerted with fire cries. a 150 gallon Royal storage tank and bucket brigade saved east-side buildings. The blaze’s origin remains unknown with Rochelle away on vacation.
