The American Legion Shell Shocker's orchestra from Long Beach entertained residents of Harper Lake Valley and Hinkley with lively music and comedy. Guests included James F. Collins, ranch developer, and local figures from Long Beach and Pasadena. By evening, dancing filled the auditorium and classroom as chicken sandwiches and coffee were served. Auto Kills Horse In collision on Hinkley road
A bay horse owned by O N Plum of Hinkley collided with a Buick driven by Lee Redfield on the Hinkley road before the Riley ranch. Ward and Thompson, Santa Fe switchmen, were in the Buick. Ward sustained chest injuries, Redfield nose scrapes, Thompson uninjured. the horse died, car damaged, four fence posts knocked down. Ward likely to be sent to Santa Fe hospital.
