James Jardine, a 52 year old native of Simcoe County, was appointed by the council as governor of the House of Refuge. He runs a 200 acre farm near Nottawa and has served in township and county councils for twenty five years. Jardine is a Presbyterian Conservative and showed promising leadership in his temporary tenure.
