Mystery Surrounds Death Of Mr Baker In Muskoka Well
The Bracebridge Herald reports the death of Mr Baker, active in lumbering for his son Thomas and living in Toronto. After visiting Utterson on February 25, his body was found in a 25 foot deep well near the Commercial hotel, discovered by Mr Heyd while drawing water. The well contained four feet of water and a windlass for drawing.

Maxwell Co v Catcher decides lien notes on horses
In a widely watched farming case, Maxwell Mfg Co sued Catcher after a horse bought by Rich Monteith with two lien notes was mortgaged and later seized. Judge Boys ruled lien notes on a horse do not need registration yet that post judgment possession rights are lost, and Catcher prevailed. Also notes the first Bargain Day at Irwin's with special bargains.
