A fire at Fred Ayerst’s garage and livery on Bayfield Street destroyed twelve motor cars and damaged equipment in the upper storeroom. Loss estimated around 15000 dollars with partial insurance. Nearby residents Rayner and Jos Garvin helped authorities. hay and straw fed the flames and smoke. Vehicles owned by Art Ferguson and Jas Bowles also sustained heavy damage.

Tragic Stove Blast Kills Six Year Old Audrey McClelland
A kitchen explosion at 129 Bradford Street just after noon killed six year old Audrey Rose McClelland. Her four year old sister Mildred survived uninjured as the stove and water reservoir ruptured the room. In the centre Audrey McClelland lies dead after a fatal blast at her home. Sister Mildred sits beside her, Addison Lawrence a nearby playmate looks on. The family awaited a normal Sunday when a pipe explosion caused the tragedy. Audrey would have turned seven on July 24. The McClellands include Mildred Oswald Harvey and Ilda, aged 4, 8, 10, and 12 respectively. Funeral services were led by Rev. S. M. Beach at Burton Avenue Church and interment followed at Union Cemetery.
