Bennington September 3 a vehicle collision just north of Troy injured Merritt Simpacat Val White Guy Norton and Hew Perry. A Boston pilot Jay Benton and two companions Holt Clinton of Canton and John Pettret of San Francisco rode a balloon from Pittsfield to Barre Vermont in nine hours covering about 150 miles. After a night voyage they landed three miles from Barre at 8 40 p m on Sunday. They faced wind reversals, skimmed over Chelsea and Washington before descending near East Barre. Spectators aided the landing and the trio planned to return to Pittsfield on the morning train.
Wilbur F Kimball died at his West Topsham home on September 29 at age 87 years 15 days. He was a lifelong resident, survived by his wife and one son W Kimball of Mapleaverisie. McKane was arraigned on selling charges in Washington County court and bail was set at 400 dollars. State's Attorney A Ward Carver and S Hollister Sackson represented the defense and prosecution.
