Barre Engineer Dies After Valve Burst At Granite Plant
Dames Nute, long time Barre resident and engineer at Jones Hero’s granite works, died this afternoon after a steam valve burst, scalding and injuring him in the engine room. The accident occurred before seven, a boiler valve failure spraying steam and debris. Nute leaves a wife and seven children. two doctors attended him but he never regained consciousness.
