London official report says British troops overcome German resistance in the beleaguered town as French forces reach Combles Cemetery. The announcement notes continued advances and expresses cautious optimism about relief of the position.

London reports 29 dead after a Zeppelin air raid across the east and northeast coasts between 10:30 and midnight. In Presque Isle on September 2 and 4, Mrs. Mre 4 1. Blackden wife of the Presque Tele house proprietor was killed when an automobile with wheat companions ran over an embankment near Wondetock N B. Mr. Blackden injured. The party returned here last night leaving the body of Mira Stavlaten.

Frank Turner Jr of Rutland and Miss Butt Coolidge of North Claendon were arrested at Mrs. Turner’s sister’s home in North Fairfax by St Albans police on request of Rutland officers. Turner, 30, and Coolidge, 17, were taken to Franklin County jail. Turner’s daughter Florence, about six, was with them. Turner claimed he planned to leave his wife, seek work, and send money home. The girl said Turner threatened her and forced her to accompany him after meeting at the station.
Funeral services for W H Noonan a former Barre resident were held at St Monica's church this morning with parish priest Ken M Merkenma officiating. Bearers included John Cayhue Henry Alesemler AO J Ganth rin George W Goreme and others. Attendees listed include Loom Mr Freak and William Noonan along with relatives and friends.
