Constantinople reports ongoing heavy combat between Turkish troops and insurgents in the Kresnm Pass in the Macedonian mountains. Turkish casualties exceed 200 with about 32 percent officers losses. insurgent losses around 200 killed or injured.
A Tribune report says Judge Paters of the United States circuit court may resign to act as counsel for the Northern ties company before the United States Supreme Court during the merger litigation. The move would affect rulings and has drawn attention to the case and potential conflict.
Grain piling up overwhelms Kishineff mill and rail facilities. Only forty locomotives are available where two hundred are needed. The grain accumulation covers twenty six thousand cars and sits on uncovered platforms. Weather delays hinder clearance and farmers face losses.
In Sheldon on September 24 Arthur Draper’s team, Borswe, fell from a bridge into Black Creek as Draper tended hay in a meadow. Both horses died instantly. The bridge had previously been carried out by water two years ago. the team was valued at 50 dollars.

Trainer Matt Demarest had Jobo Curry drive due to weight issues. The crowd cheered as the pacer crossed the wire with no break or tremor, amid perfect weather and track conditions. Grand Lodge session of Knights of Pythias opened in Castle Hall, with about 100 delegates, installing twenty past chancellor command ers and awarding prize ribbons to Rutland and St Albans units.
Thrin Sept 24 The Nenington baseball association wishes to form a six team league with three games weekly and includes Barra Montpelier Rutland St Albans Pittsburgh as possible entrants. The association plans to involve business men and anticipates Briington will host another baseball season similar to the past one.

Excitement swept through Squiry when a horse and carriage driven by a team belonging to Mrs Michael Doyle and her year old daughter bolted from Marrion's cigar store area. Passersby scattered as the carriage crashed into a platform near Caliber's lances stopping abruptly. William Honeyman of the Central Vermont freight office seized the horse by the bridle and halted the runaway. The lady fell to the ground but escaped serious injury while the child also avoided harm amid the chaos.
A Chicago expert, W C Fuchs, claims X rays can permanently color diamonds by directing rays through the color source before they touch the diamond. He predicts famous gems like the Hope diamond could be replicated in color via this method after years of study.

Charles Pisk sued George W Gale over a July 1901 shooting at Stowe that wounded Philip Flake, son of the plaintiff. The case closed with the plaintiff paying Gale $200 in cash and both sides bearing their own costs. A separate jury trial in Doyle v. 14 ended with no verdict after five hours.
Montpelier reports the unveiling of four commemorative tablets at the Payillon hotel lawn afternoon events featured two addresses by A. N. Lewis and J. A. sas om ness s Saits. The ceremony included paging and a nine by lev. address.
The season opened with a well attended performance at the home of D F Davis in Maple Grove. The ladies quartet impressed, Miss Philips and Mrs Moree gave creditable roles, and the Harris Braley duet pleased. Readings by A W Allen enhanced the program, while Ivan Perry and Miss Inglis contributed fine clarinet and piano duets. The concert proved a success and more events are planned through winter.
A M Jackman of Barre formerly, called on Judge Thaeait and Assistant Judges Dann and Hath away. He received a cordial reception and spoke of past service, noting he was elected sheriff in 1801 on a fusion ticket and was the only Democrat in his county to hold the position.
Sept a large crowd gathered at the village fairgrounds for a three day event with weather favorable. A grand parade of prize oxen led by the Chelsea Corvet band drew attention, followed by exhibits from Ayershire Stock Farm and Holstein cattle. Floral hall showcased bouquets pumpkins vegetables and fruits while poultry displays attracted crowds. Races including green tread 25 class and farmer's race drew interest. Lillian Farnam won the green tread with Dora Swart second, and Dick Wilkes Groton led the 25 class with Krosbner second. Premiums were paid on cultivated flowers and other exhibits.
Mrs Alexandrina Krock and John Chesser were married yesterday afternoon at the home of Mr and Mrs James Lamont on Plain Street officiated by Rev T E Mitchell. The bride was aided by Mrs James Lamont and Edward Chesser served as best man. A wedding dinner followed. The couple will reside on Warren Street after a short stay in Montreal. The groom, a tool sharpener, was a former star player for the Barre Ranger football team.
George W Lawson died at 7 15 this morning at his East Montpelier road home after a four week illness from kidney and heart trouble. He was born there 72 years ago and lived his life in the same home. Survived by his wife and a nine year old son. He was a member of the Masonic order and a Republican.
Funeral services for Mrs BF Robinson were held yesterday afternoon at her late Washington Street home. Rev BP Lowe assisted by Rev J A Bhie pages conducted the rites before a large gathering of friends and neighbors. Burial followed at St Einwood cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, two of whom were living with others.
The city council confirmed Bennet Julian as auditor to fill the vacancy caused by James H. Mr. Julian’s appointment followed discussion of sewer payments and street work. Aldermen debated paving blocks purchases and railroad delays, with references to Mrs Jackson and the Overseer of the Poor.
In Montpelier on September 4 a series of arrests were made after true bills were returned in the East Montpelier murder investigation. Willa Wright, previously county court official, was taken into custody along with others connected to the case. Authorities say the suspects include individuals tied to a harness theft at East Montpelier.
