Bennington Vt Sept 21 1914 Cooper president Cooper Manufacturing declined to accept the Progressive party nomination for Vermont governor. In a letter to Dr H L Neleon Jackson of Burlington he expressed appreciation and explained he could be of more service in other fields while supporting the progressive cause in state and nation.
Enosburg Falls September 22 Dr H A Ladd of the state board of health examined three suspected cases in Enosburg and pronounced infantile paralysis. He expected all would recover. The patients include the d year old son of H Sylvester in the Hi Weat district the 5 year old child of Carl Kidder in Baathesburg and the child of Fred Lavalley in the Sand Hill district. The Rublee child showed symptoms but no paralysis.
Twenty-two people drowned when the British steamer Belgian Kivi sank near Cape Kureli after a mine strike. The ship carried 120 passengers and crew, with about eight-five saved by a companion steamer. The loss is being attributed to a mine.
In Rutland Sept 77 a dispute over George T Jarvis authority as Rutland railroad general manager to sign long term contracts delayed county court hearings in the Underhill Ait land railroad case for 20000 seeks to recover 220000 for Columbian Marble on the railroad right of way. Defense argues Jarvis had no authority while Underhill as Columbian marble chief claims dock portions were on Rutland land. The steamships Minnewaska Zeeland and Principele docked in New York with 224 delayed tourists and 470 Americans aboard the Zeeland and Principele, both reported as quarantined last night. The Principelle carried eight passengers, all Americans, while the Zeeland had eighty Americans aboard.
Pittsburg Pa September 22 An order issued in the orphan's court provides for payment to Harry Thaw of 14294 from the estate created by the will of Wilhelm Thaw. The errand party named Thaw aims to receive funds, with Fidelity Trust Company of Pittsburgh involved in the matter as trustees. The arrangement reportedly directs payments toward Thaw's support and care.

Irving St John and Peter Warren pleaded guilty to first offenses of intoxication, paying minimum fines plus costs.
The case of Daniel McCarthy administrator versus the village of Northfield was completed in Wawon county court and the jury was empanelled at 10210. Closing arguments concluded with H C Shurthet representing the administrator for Arthur Helden estate. The trial centered on Andrew Mull versus Sullivan and no jurors had been drawn yet.
