A Barre quarryman, John Burke, who left Websterville a week ago, was found dead in Concord yesterday afternoon. Authorities identified his body, noted a bruise near the left eye, and said Burke, in his 60s, had lived in the Harve quarry district for 24 years. The Concord Monitor reported the death appeared painless, with clothing arranged neatly and a half pint bottle nearby. A membership card in the A UH of Graniteville and baggage checks were found among Burke’s belongings, along with notes about an entertainment and a Hart dance. Burial arrangements were to be made in Concord.
Bretton Woolf reports a large search on Mount Washington as John M Keenan of Charles Town is missing in fog. About 100 people scour windswept ridges with blankets and provisions, while Keenan, a civil engineer, worked on an electric railway project.
A wireless dispatch from Glnegaw says Albert McDonald one year old son of Mr and Mrs Jumma McDonald of this city died at sea Monday. The family sailed from Glnegaw on the Allan line steamship Henry Perian bound for Quebec. Mrs McDonald and her child were en route to reunite with relatives. a letter confirms the voyage starting Saturday. The boy leaves behind his parents a brother George and a sister Vint. The family mourns while the ship continues toward Aberdeen with a remaining member in this city.
Fire destroyed the Clark Hatch place below the village on South Ryegate rear yesterday forenoon. The house had been vacant. light was seen Wednesday evening with parties reported to have stayed over night. Dr. G6 Th Match of Newbury owned the property and furniture, much of which was heirloom. A portion of the furniture was saved. there was a small insurance on the buildings.
Last Wednesday Frank Pearsons and Miss Annie 1, returning from the state fair in Amos Jewett’s dutemobile, lost control near Jewett’s home. The horse and carriage plunged down a 25 foot bank. Miss Neal was found under the wrecked vehicle. a large stone had fallen from the bank wall. The couple and horse were bruised but not seriously hurt in what was a miraculous escape from a possible fatal accident.
Middlebury College opened its doors to the largest class in its history as of yesterday morning. The freshman group numbers over twenty more than the previous record, marking the start of the Littl year. Three new instructors join the staff: George P. Paine, Perley C. Vater, and others from Burlington.

The body of Charles Sullivan, a 16 month old boy who fell from the steamer Chateaugay last week, was recovered yesterday near the spot of the accident about 300 yards from the Rutland railroad drawbridge. He was taken to the bay on the steamer Tack and prepared for burial.
