New York September 19 ex governor Sulzer facing impeachment as four senators were allowed to retain seats while the court decides whether to entertain charges. Proceedings included arguments between Judge Herrick and Parker and the arrest of Garrison as a Sulzer ally questioned for opposing officials.
Albany Sept 19 The Assembly adopted Major Levy’s resolution calling for the arrest of James C Garrison for allegedly refusing to answer questions before judiciary committees regarding statements about money influencing votes in Governor Sulzer impeachment. Garrison, in the Assembly chamber, refused to repudiate the allegations and was remanded to custody pending further action. The House pressed for his appearance before the judiciary committee to testify, as Speaker Smith urged, with Garrison being held under arrest by warrant issued by the Speaker.

Horlington news reports Patrick McGowan, an escaped six month convict sought since his Spaulding and Kimball robbery in 1911, arrested in Matt Urgh by a peace officer after a tip. Authorities from Windsor were alerted and will hold McGowan and Laura until further action.
Washington Sept 19 President Wilson commuted the 12 year sentence of Miles Mendich a counterfeiter who pleaded guilty at Cleveland two years ago to raising ten notes to one hundred dollars. He must leave the United States never to return and has since been in hospital.
Lynehburg Sept. 1 A colored man named Franklin was convicted by a federal court jury for enticing Irene Whalen a white Burlington Vermont woman to a cavalry camp at Winchester in duly He was sentenced by Judge McDowell to three years hard labor at Moundaville prison Franklin was captured after an exciting chase in which he was shot in the leg The evidence showed extensive involvement in white slave trafficking He followed a cavalry detachment to Vire Kinin from Vermont Samuel

Richford Sept. 10 Mrs W Blow of Enosburg Falls sustained serious injuries yesterday afternoon when a wagon jackknife broke while driving near Richford Center. The wagon pitched throwing Mrs Blow and her two children Tibbiard and Wellington from the wagon. Mrs Blounin Digah Guilmette of Richford and others were summoned. She had three fractures and internal injuries.
The mangled body of Henry McLaughlin of Barre Vermont was found near Wells River Village under a railroad bridge. He appeared to have fallen about 60 feet to the riverbank and the death is attributed to the fall. A brother in Island Pond identified the body by a letter in his pocket and arrived to claim it.
Williams denies making any public statement about the Vermont Supreme Court chief justice race. He clarifies he never spoke to reporters regarding Redmond's support or the commission choosing the next justice. He notes a majority of Orleans and Chittenden bar officials favor Was for the post and that other counties show strong backing.

In Detroit on Sept 19 Lant Dewey won the Empire State trot record $10,000 race of the season at the Michi Atake pace for 2:15 trotters from seven starters in straight heats. Reusene never let Geers gain. Homer Banghouin driven by Geers claimed the 2:20 pace. Princess Margaret the favorite in the 2-0 pace had a merry struggle with BTL and Jones. The third heat provided the day’s thrills amid several incidents and damage.

The Green Bank hotel in Thanet was destroyed by fire between 6 and 8 this morning. Guest Betsey Mason aged 80 sustained injuries and a possible internal injury from a fall while being rescued. The fire also damaged a barn and tools stock, with valuables lost by several guests. Mrs Mason had a fractured arm and possible internal injuries. Insurance not more than 2500 pounds.
A fire was discovered yesterday afternoon at the residence of Arthur Cassellini at the corner of Elnwood Avenue and Newton Street. Neighbor Joneps Bullops alerted the fire station after finding smoke pouring from the roof while Cassellini was away. firefighters battled a small blaze in the kitchen dining area and the home was saved from major damage. Damages are expected around 850 dollars, with smoke damage to other areas. Cassellini had insurance with Robison and McAllister agency.

Patrick M. Crowley of Harve Town won a 249.03 verdict against A. C. Blanchard of Montpelier in Washington county court after about an hour of jury deliberation. The trial related to a March 1908 note tied to a drainage agreement between partners in the Empire Granite Co. The jury also considered competing claims and potential offsets as to Crowley’s liability versus Blanchard’s. The verdict was returned shortly before six o'clock. a related suit by Thomas Angelo, administrator of Fred Angelo, against Woodbury Granite Co. began but was not completed as night adjourned.
