Liverpool report details a derailment at Diton Junction eight miles from Liverpool where a car derailed and crashed into a bridge, causing a fire. Sixteen died and about fifty were injured as passengers were rescued amid harrowing scenes and partial bodies still found in wreckage.

Police believe Gloucester woman Mrs. Betella C. Roberts fell from a bridge and was injured in the head. She had been missing since Sept 9. The body was found in the Manchester River on Monday. Identity was established by clothing and items. Police say the head wound came from striking water or a railing during the fall.

Norman M. Puffer, a Civil War drummer and past Vermont G A R commander, died at his Bennington home. Born May 4, 184, he enlisted at 14 in 1861 with the Second Vermont Infantry, Company E, served through the war, survived the Fool's Theatre night of Lincoln's assassination, later worked for B B Valenti and founded the Bennington Knitting Co. He was a director of the Bennington County National Bank and connected with Bennington Wax Paper. He leaves a wife and one son.
