Warsaw reports a brutal police directed purge with nightly arrests of political suspects. Hundreds of prominent residents have disappeared and are believed victims. Prisons are packed with prisoners, about a dozen confined for political offenses.
Secretary of War Taft departed Yokohama on the Korea at three in the afternoon for San Francisco, greeted by Yo kohama merchants at the American consulate. He commented on reports of anti-foreign demonstrations as mob violence, noting Americans were involved and that other American churches faced attacks. Alice Roosevelt planned to return aboard the Siberia.

Four masked men stormed the Amboy division office of the Public Service Corporation in Perth Amboy New Jersey this morning after gagging the watchmen they forced open the safe and fled with about $500 in cash and valuables.

Fireman Andrew P. McManus was fatally injured and Lieut. Leland Potter suffered multiple injuries in a collision between a hook and ladder truck and a street car at Hudson and West 11th streets. Four other firemen were injured as the six ton apparatus toppled onto the tracks and cars. Potter said he signaled the car to stop but it continued, and the truck keeper could not avoid the crash.
In San Antonio near the city limits on September 15 pieces of ore on the track, allegedly laid by wreckers, derailed a Santa Fe KansPass railway passenger train. The car and two coaches overturned in a ditch. Fireman John Wolf was killed and Harry Martin, the conductor, was seriously injured and may die. Two passengers were seriously hurt. All lies in this city.

Boston September news reports a major tribute to P A Collins with a large crowd at his funeral service. The late mayor was escorted to Holy Cross Cathedral with dignitaries and a long funeral procession, followed by a private burial and mass.
A letter from Colonel Charles Nelson to Colonel Wallace notes a kettle linked to General Ethan Allen is to be given to the state for the garrison. The kettle will be placed in a glass case at the administration building for public viewing as a lasting relic of the post named for Allen. Ownership traces to Miss Lizzie Allen, a great grandniece, with the kettle passing to Mrs. Pulsifer after her death.
In Crown Point Indiana Harry Houman of Hawwond shot Miss Ida Shree and Charles Jeannette yesterday at a hotel after a dispute over a fiancé. Houman then killed himself as Jeannette lay fatally wounded and Miss Shree lay dead beside him.
In New York on September 18 the Tammany leadership contest intensified as Senator J. W. Plankitt and Jim Donlan joined forces against McMains who seeks the leadership and against the former leader. A member of the fourth owner league but no confirmation on Supreme Court Jay Lynor remains undecided about supporting the Fusion mayoral nomination.
In Hiniava on September 18 a liberal rally led by Gen. Miguel Gomez drew about 5,000 supporters and many bystanders. The event followed a clash between rural supporters and police at Las Cruces, linked to tensions over government lines and public order.
In Cavite near the Batangas border Felizardo, long-time foe of authorities, was surrounded after days of pursuit and fell from a cliff to his death. His death allegedly ends local disturbances. Earlier on January 24, 1901, 400 rebels led by Montabon attacked San Francisco de Matabon, looting a municipal treasury of 2000 pesos, killing Contract Surgeon J A ONeill, and abducting the governor Trias's wife and two children.
Hundreds of members and friends arrived from across the country for the grand communication of the sovereign body. Religious services were held morning and afternoon for visitors. The afternoon address was delivered on the Odd Fellows Home lawn by Rev. Dr. Russell Conwell of Grace Baptist Church.

A train passing through caused cars to pull away and derail, throwing brakeman John A. Brooke of South Vernon from the train. Brooke sustained a badly hurt spine and was taken to his home in South Vernon for treatment.

A group of seven young men fired nine shots at the Gale home on Tydd Hill during a Saturday evening incident. Seven rounds struck the house and parlor area, while occupants including William Gale and Dr. Clinton Gale escaped unharmed. Deputies recovered the pumpkin target used and located three youths hiding, who initially denied involvement but later confessed to firing three rifles each at the setup.
Chief Brown Sheriff Tracy and Deputy Sheriff Camp raid Kendrick Co drug store with warrant and arrest Clarenor Kendrick after locating whiskey. Kath Kendrick pleads not guilty to keeping and selling. Bail set at 550. Later, at 5 Park Place, A P Newman held on whiskey found. bail 50. Court set for tomorrow morning.
Woodruff of this city announces the twentieth annual convention of the organization will be held at Richmond on October 10. The provisional program is completed and anticipates unusually vigorous competition. George B. Grail and Howard Grose are among prominent speakers. Vermont speakers include Rev. Benjamin Swift and Rev. George S. Mite. Junior work and various adult sessions will be conducted by capable leaders with conferences on practical topics. Further announcements will follow.
