Fire destroys Pacific Coast liner Congress off Coos Bay
Marshfield Oregon September 14 Fire last night wiped out the Pacific Coast company liner Congress two miles off Crows Bay fur. The dredge Michie and the gas schooner Tillamook reached the burning ship and found passengers and crew of 253 and 170 respectively being moved to rescue vessels. Captain N E Cousins and his crew kept order as flames shot from ventilators and passageways. The last boatload left as the Congress burned from stern to stem lighting the sky crimson. Winds and tides drove the ship toward the spit of Coos Bay.

Warlington September 13 Mrs George Plummer of the Heights in Winooski was injured when alighting from an Easex Junition trolley car near Porter sermon shops on East Spring street. She suffered a deep cut at the back of her head and severe bruises, was carried to 156 East Spring street unconscious, attended by Dr Edward A Heath, and later moved home. Her condition was not believed serious.
