Newburg N Y Sept 12 Police suspect John Grace a Welden wrestler in the lightweight class was murdered and his body found under a sofa in the country club room at Welden. The shell fracture suggests he had been dead several days. The case is under investigation as Grace was well known in the vicinity.
A South Pacific passenger train en route to the west coast was halted by gunfire near Nogales, rebels seized arms and forced the engine to stop. Passengers were unharmed as the assailants burned baggage and threatened further violence while diplomats pursue protection for railroad assets.
Curtis Guild, a senator from Massachusetts, traveled aboard the steamship Laconia with Mrs Pulld for a short voyage to Russia. He stated he would not oppose a Senate race from Massachusetts if uncontested but is not seeking a run at this time. He plans to return to resume duties, while Mrs Guild remains in the United States longer.
Detroit on September 12 reports indicate Hivins affiliated with the American Bawk Pe association will wrap their meeting today. Several reports are noted and observers are moved to conclude with the election of officers as the session ends.
The widow of famed performer Jolson, Mrs. Johnson, died following a self inflicted shooting. Witnesses describe a tense scene as Mrs. Johnson prayed with two Black pallbearers and uttered a plea for compassion for the bereaved. Her death is attributed by her husband to a nervous breakdown.
New York, Sept. 12. Receivers were appointed for the United States Motors company, a $250 million corporation formed four years ago to control ten automobile and engine concerns. The meetings of the company involve some of the leading capitalists in the country. The receivers were appointed in a suit brought by Browne & Co. Five companies are involved, tied with the United States company in ownership of the properties.
Sept 12 President Taft hosts a luncheon in Hadley Massachusetts attended by Cabinet members Chandler, Anderson, Wickersham and MacVeagh along with Mr Arnold. Taft plans social engagements and film unit duties.
The War Hawk mail train on the New York Central jumped a track at Mortom due to an open switch. Two passengers and the engineer were injured while several others sustained minor hurts. Authorities report the malfunction as the likely cause of the incident near Roshester in September.

Wytheville Virginia September reports say Ployd Allen and his nephew Claude were sentenced to be electrocuted on November 22 after being found guilty of murder in the first degree in connection with the Millersville courthouse shooting. Trial of Victor Allen, charged as an accomplice, continued in Brattleboro.
L W Rowell formerly of St Johnsbury died at 9 30 PM at the city hospital after an illness lasting four years He leaves a wife two daughters Mrs Carleton Miss Winefred Rowell a brother W L Rowell of Milton Mass a sister Mrs Victoria Webber of Lyndonville and a grandson Ralph J Carleton Born in Gorham NH 78 years ago he was long a printer in St Johnsbury as proprietor of Rowell Job Printing He moved to Barre recently and will have private funeral services Friday at his Jefferson Street home with burial in St Johnsbury Rev J W Barnett to officiate
The King's Daughters of Vermont opened their annual convention in Montpelier this morning with an executive meeting and prayers by Rev. Dr. Homer A. Flint. J A Deftoer gave an address of welcome, followed by talks by the state president and others. A memorial service was held in the afternoon and an informal reception was held at Mrs Mende Benny's home in the evening. The group will continue tomorrow with officer elections and other business. The Monte vigner Military band orchestra provided music tonight under H A Haylett.
Mrs Josie Perrin foster daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Perrin of Perrindill married George Jackson Barber son of Dr and Mrs Charles N Barber of Barre Town in the bride’s parents home. Ceremony by Rev G George H Holt. Milas Elizabeth Barber served as flower girl. The couple left for a Massachusetts New Hampshire tour then will reside with Mr and Mrs Charles Perrin at Perrinity hill. Mrs Barber is a graduate of Spaulding high school. Barber is well known locally.

Word reached yesterday of the death of Ruth Burgess, formerly of Barre, who died this morning in Lisbon, New Hampshire after a lingering illness. She lived here for many years, resided in Lisbon for the past four years, and was survived by two brothers and a sister. Services will be held with the Hebekahe in charge, the remains to be brought to Barre for burial at Hope Cemetery.
Mrs Charles Coffran and her husband were struck at a Boston and Maine grade crossing near St Johnsbury while en route to the fair. Mrs Coffran died instantly. Mr Coffran, fractured skull and critical condition. The crossing, opposed for abolition by the town, had been targeted by the St Johnsbury Commercial Club.
Burlington September meeting of Vermont sealers discussed education on weights and measures reform. Speakers from Boston and Washington urged national uniformity, new inspector salaries, prohibiting unmarked weights, and legalizing prepackaged lard containers in even pound amounts.
In Harlington on September 12, Margaret Carter remains in jail after the shooting of Pearl Hooper. She appears highly nervous and there is little new to report. The case may be ready for trial in the latter part of the term. State's Attorney I B Shaw continues work, and an inquest was held before Dyes Conlin ta Wi.
