In Tiflis on September 12 a clash between Cossacks and Social Democrats left about a hundred dead or wounded. An attempted dispersal of a town hall meeting sparked the violence as shots were fired, killing around thirty and wounding seventy amid trampling and panic.
In Tilis a landed proprietor Prince Teitelanoff was murdered yesterday in Gori three miles from Tilis. Tartars barricaded themselves in a rich patrol officer’s house and fired on surrender. Artillery bombarded the house. Tartars perished to a man.

Stowe Sept 12 Allen Smith died at Mary Fletcher hospital in Burlington at age 47 after an injury in a box factory accident in Monson. He was a lifelong Stowe resident, son of Abel and Nancy Smith. Survived by two brothers A M Smith Morrisville and A C Smith Stowe, a sister L Smith and Mrs Fred Clement, four children Agnes Clara Alice and John. Body to be brought to the village today. funeral tomorrow at 2 PM from his late home.

In Waterbury Connecticut September 22 one man died from electrocution another was taken to the hospital and a third is seriously injured at the Ile Manufacturing company works. The deceased is Joseph Ring a company teamster. Edward Satima was fatally hurt and John Ross an electrician is seriously buried. The accident was caused by a cross wire between telephone and electric light lines.
Governor HB Glenn of North Carolina begins a rail tour toward New England, planned to include stops in Maine and Vermont. He will be joined by A B White and several aides, delivering remarks at community events and fairs along the itinerary.
Sept 12. Mrs William Raggy was found dead in bed by a family member. She refused to call a physician due to her Christian Science beliefs. The medical examiner ruled death from natural causes and arranged for burial.
White River Junction Sept. 32 A prisoner McClellan attempted to escape from Officer Watson while being taken to the State prison from Burlington. McClellan slipped away as they waited for a train. He was hampered and injured, but recaptured and taken on the next train to Windsor where he was lodged in prison.
In Lipel Sept 12 a county court jury found for the defendants in the Hibel suit filed by J Hi Cross of Brandon against Moore and the Brandon Union publishers. The jury returned a verdict detailing the court’s attention to a letter at issue.
The Washington County Sunday School Association holds its annual convention at Plainfield September 19 and 20 with sessions starting 2 00 p m Tuesday. Delegates arrive by the morning train Wednesday. Revs and educators from Burlington Montpelier Williston and Burlington plus Mrs Stickney Chandler and Marden will address teacher training and primary work.
