Aged Montpelier Man John Slattery Dies at Home

John Slattery of Montpelier aged 10 years died at 10 50 last night at the home of his daughter Mrs M A Gillett in Hyde block after paralysis two weeks earlier. He had resided in the city with his daughters for 14 years and is survived by four daughters including Mrs M A Gillett and Mrs Shorey of Michigan. The deceased was a kind husband and father and was respected by all who knew him.

William Morris Fined for Cruelty to a Horse at Montpelier

Montpelier Sept 12 William Morris of Burlington faced city court on cruelty to a horse charge for driving the animal into town last evening. The case was adjourned after the horse was deemed in pain and a local bystander threatened to shoot it. Morris was found guilty of intoxication and paid 8.79 dollars.

Col M M Parker of Washington I G a well known Vermonter passed through Barre yesterday forenoon in a 21 horse power automobile. He was with his daughter Mrs H J Bardette and Myron Cady of Washington. They came from Hartford and headed for Boston via the White Mountains after spending the summer at Camden Maine. Parker, a Civil War veteran, served with the Vermont cavalry and is a cousin of J W Parker of Montpelier.
