Montpelier September 12 A new excursion court LO. F. formed with 6 charter members. After business a dance followed in the hall. The nine members listed include Mountain and others. Hoy Drowsed in Betligton Bennington September 11 Willie Mahon five drowned near Rockwood knitting mills today. The child fell from a plank and was found later unconscious.
Detroit defeated Cleveland 6 to 4 in Cleveland while Cleveland won 6 to 0 in the rematch. Boston beat Washington 2 to 1 in Boston. St Louis saw Chicago win 1 to 0. National League results included Philadelphia 7 over Pittsburgh and Brooklyn 3 over Chicago.
The steamer Maquam ran onto a reef about 15 rods from the North Inland City wharf returning from Plattsburg fair. Passengers were kept aboard as ropes were tied and attempts to free the vessel continued into the night. Captain Linney and crew worked hard, with no panic among passengers or horses aboard, and the boat remained stranded but not sinking.
On Sept. 11 two men Daniel Heagan and John D Mahar fell from a derrick while repairing a mast at Fair Haven. Heagan was crushed by rubbish and died instantly. Mahar suffered a fractured rib and critical injuries. he and Heagan were both married, with families.
Walter B. Richardean of Barre married Miss Gertrude Richardean of Wallafield at the bride’s home in Waltsfeld on Thursday. The ceremony was by Bev Mc Allen. Newlyweds left Wakefield to Montpelier with community well wishes and will reside at No 12 Hubbard Street in Montpelier.
A St Albans crowd returning from the Plattsburgh excursion boat Mewes faced extreme seasickness. Passengers endured a rough voyage with many affected. one woman had to be carried ashore on a lounge. The lower deck resembled a morgue as seasickness spread among the travelers.

John Slattery of Montpelier aged 10 years died at 10 50 last night at the home of his daughter Mrs M A Gillett in Hyde block after paralysis two weeks earlier. He had resided in the city with his daughters for 14 years and is survived by four daughters including Mrs M A Gillett and Mrs Shorey of Michigan. The deceased was a kind husband and father and was respected by all who knew him.
In a weekly club event at Bere Gott lodge, Dodge posted a low net score of 62 to secure victory. The match featured a sabre of steady scores as players battled for top placement, with results listed following the leader.

Montpelier Sept 12 William Morris of Burlington faced city court on cruelty to a horse charge for driving the animal into town last evening. The case was adjourned after the horse was deemed in pain and a local bystander threatened to shoot it. Morris was found guilty of intoxication and paid 8.79 dollars.
Col M M Parker of Washington I G a well known Vermonter passed through Barre yesterday forenoon in a 21 horse power automobile. He was with his daughter Mrs H J Bardette and Myron Cady of Washington. They came from Hartford and headed for Boston via the White Mountains after spending the summer at Camden Maine. Parker, a Civil War veteran, served with the Vermont cavalry and is a cousin of J W Parker of Montpelier.

Montpelier Sept 12 the heating in the case of Jomew Crow, held on charge in the matter of Petr Vorron at East Mont Her Tuesday night, was continued by grand jury into forenoon, and witnesses were examined. It is expected the hearing will be concluded today.
