His companion Gerngi i was engaged in a friendly struggle over a double action which accidentally discharged the pistol, the ball entering his body near the heart. An inquest was begun by State's Attorney Daly with no further details provided.
A woman was struck by a broken tent support at a RI assembly. Her head and arm were injured and taken to hospital by Dr. PLP Haskell. The tent, 110 by 70 feet, collapsed outward protecting most. Passersby remained seated while Lucas and others moved to the entrance.
