Barre Manufacturer Alexander Ross Dies in Boston
Alexander Ross a Barre granite manufacturer of Ross and Ralph died at Boston City Hospital after stomach surgery to remove a growth believed cancer. He moved to Boston ten days ago and was operated on last Monday. His remains were brought to Barre by his sister-in-law. Born May 10, 1872 in Aberdeen Scotland, he served as a stonecutter apprentice and settled in Barre in 1897. In 1908 he and Gee Ralph started a plant on Sandiet Meadow. He married Annie Merchant on December 26, Usa, and they had four children. Surviving are his wife, three sons and a daughter, plus three brothers and a sister. He was a member of several Scottish lodges and local fraternal orders.
